At the moment, we are investing in expanding our Village Agribusiness Promotion Centre infrastructure by setting up cluster-based collection centers, cold storage, and packhouses to provide end-to-end agro-ecological value chain development support to our producer groups.

What We Do

Farm Share Methodology

Our methodology involves working closely with smallholder farmers to develop sustainable, inclusive and integrated agro-ecological value chains. We take a holistic approach that covers the entire value chain, from planning and preparation to production, aggregation, value addition, marketing, and distribution.

Current Value Chain and Supporting Infrastructure

To support this approach, we have registered and set up Village Agribusiness Promotion Centre(s) in the counties, where we anchor the model and commercially develop selected agro-ecological value chains. Our current value chains are Vegetables, Herbs, Potatoes, Poultry, and Rabbits. We are proud to have supporting infrastructure that includes a comprehensive and integrated local Poultry Value Chain, complete with a breeding shelter, a hatchery, a feed factory, and a semi-mechanized chicken slaughterhouse. Additionally, we run a registered Seed Raising Nursery by Horticultural Crops Directorate (HCD) and certified by Kenya Plant Health Inspectorate Service (KEPHIS).

Village Agribusiness Promotion Centre(s)

Our Village Agribusiness Promotion Centre(s) serve as critical components for the commercialization of cluster-based agribusiness initiatives aimed at developing commercially viable and integrated agro-ecological value chain ecosystems at the village level. The centres identify viable value chains, prepare production protocols, engage and organize farmers into producer groups, build their capacity, provide them with production support, monitor their production activities, and ensure they access necessary support throughout the value chain to enable them to maximize production in accordance with required market quality standard

FAQs

Frequently Asked Questions

The Integrated Value Chain Business Model is a strategic approach that helps companies create value for their customers while maximizing efficiency and profitability. It involves optimizing the entire value chain, from sourcing raw materials to delivering the final product or service to customers, by integrating all functions and departments within a company. The goal is to create high-quality products or services at a competitive price while minimizing waste and achieving greater economies of scale. By implementing this model, companies can gain a competitive advantage and drive sustainable growth through collaboration and coordination across all functions.

A Village Agribusiness Promotion Centre (VAPC) is a community-based center that provides technical assistance and support to small-scale farmers to improve their agricultural productivity and access to markets. VAPCs are typically established in rural areas and aim to promote agribusiness development, particularly among smallholder farmers. They offer training and education programs, access to credit and financial services, and facilitate linkages with other market actors, such as suppliers, buyers, and processors. The ultimate goal of VAPCs is to improve rural livelihoods, promote sustainable agriculture, and create a more equitable and inclusive agricultural sector.
